Una Sañosa Porfía and Ayo Visto Lo Mappamundi two 15th century songs arranged for youth choir, recorder, harp, drum, and string quartet; 7' (2014) (commissioned by the Madison Youth Choirs)
composer's note: I arranged "Una Sañosa Porfía" and "Ayo Visto lo Mappamundi" for a concert entitled "Musica Ficta," in which the sounds of music from the 15th century (and earlier) were being introduced to young audiences. As such, I wanted to make these arrangements texturally interesting while still being relatively faithful to the style of Early Music. My arrangements keep fairly close to the sounds of the early Renaissance while also adding some stylish touches and quirks that help them feel immediate and exciting to listeners hearing this kind of music for the first time.
